March in Poland.

These photos are actually quiet ancient (like most of my abroad traveling photos). These were taken back in March of 2014, when I spent a week traveling in Poland with my class. We visited concentration camps, the remaining of the Warsaw ghetto, old synagogues and many other landmarks that had to do with WWII and the holocaust. It wasn't an easy trip. Standing on the grounds of a places where so many people were killed made chills run down my body in the speed of light. I don't think think my blog is the appropriate platform to share the photos and stories of those places, but I can say that there is no doubt in my mind that I came back home different. I began appreciating the simple things in life like having a bed and a coat that kept me warm.

Along with all of that, we were also able to explore the stunning country. Never-ending green fields surrounded us as we drove for hours and hours from one place to another. It was freezing cold whenever we stepped outside, so there was nothing more I enjoyed than snuggling next to my friend inside the bus, and looking through the window. I must say that Krakow was probably one of the most charming and beautiful cities I've ever been too. It looked like it was taken straight out of a fairy-tale.

Love, Alona

  2. I think it would feel kinda weird to be standing there, like you said. So much horror, so much history. It's a beautiful country though, and your pictures are so well done. :)

  3. I would love to visit Poland one day, but I am not sure I could manage to visit all those holocaust sites... there's something so disturbing even about the thought of it. I am sure you can still hear the wails in the softness of the air. That said, yeah, I probably would go, but man on man, my heart goes out.

  8. These photos are so lovely, they really have a nice mood to them. And yeah I can really imagine that would be a hard thing to talk about, can't imagine how I'd feel visiting old concentration camps in particular.
